In 1999, Nigeria elected their representatives for the first time in about 20 years.  Since the inception of democratic institutions, the ruling party, People Democratic Party has been in power at the Federal level.  The Party put forward Chief Olusegun Obasanjo and he became the elected President of Nigeria and was sworn-in in 1999. Chief Obasanjo spent 8 years as the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and then Alhaji Umaru Yar'dua was elected as the President in 2007 again under the banners of the PDP.  Sadly due to ill health, Yardua lost his life and Dr Goodluck Jonathan is now the President.

There are many arguments about whether or not President Jonathan should contest the next election in 2015 and depending on whose side you are, there are many answers.

Well I think the only credible question that should be asked all the politicians in Nigeria is this ' Are we better off now than 1999.

What is the cost of living now compared to 1999?
What is the level of unemployment now compared with 1999?
What is the security situation now compared with 1999?
What is the state of Nigerian roads now compared with 1999?
What is the national minimum wage now compared with 1999?
What is the state of education now compared with 1999?
What is the state of health sector now compared with 1999?
What is the level of corruption now compared with 1999?
How much money are we spending on recurrent expenditure (salaries of politicians) now compared with 1999?
ARE YOU BETTER OFF NOW THAN 1999? If you are better off, then vote and keep the current politicians in power in 2015.  If you are worse off, then use your votes wisely and vote them out.
